About Workshop

Workshop participant feedback

“I thought it was excellent. The few talks really focused on interesting topics in the area, topics that are at the forefront of current research. But the topics were presented in an introductory fashion, so it was not too hard to follow at least part of the ideas that were being presented. And the open problems had a lot of variety and were a great source to learn about new topics in combinatorics that the participants did not know before.”

“This workshop was a very interesting chance to learn from people working on thematics adjacent to mine. I’ve discovered new concepts, and lots of interesting problems that helped me deepen my understanding of the research landscape in my field, and in fields closely related to it.”

“I found it insightful and inspiring, it was great to work with a new group of people get different perspectives on each problem. I found out new open problems, the discussions helped to probe ideas and see things from new directions. The skills and communication learnt will definitely be useful in my future academic career.”

This workshop aimed to provide an opportunity for PhD students and postdocs to form new collaborations and generate new research in the areas of Extremal and Probabilistic, Geometric, and Structural Combinatorics.

Participants were asked to submit open problems alongside their application, some of which were presented and worked on during the workshop. The aim was to include a diverse mix of participants over a range of stages of PhD and postdoctoral research, and to foster a friendly environment in which to work on exciting open problems. As well as most of the time being devoted to collaborative work, there were also some short lectures and research talks.
