This was a two-week research school under the ICMS mathematics for humanity programme, facilitating interaction between researchers from China, India, and the UK. The programme held numerous potential benefits for academic research, dissemination, and fostering collaboration. The vision is that this was the first in a series of schools, conferences, and workshops rotating between China, India and the UK.
The first week consisted of pedagogical overviews and tutorials of topics in string theory and mathematical physics. There was a more intensive workshop-style atmosphere in the second week to give participants an overview of contemporary research topics. The lecturers included Sayantani Bhattacharyya, Pawel Caputa, Chi-Ming Chang, Atish Dabholkar, Rajesh Gopakumar, Sergei Gukov, Yu-Tin Huang, Mrunmay Jagadale, Alok Laddha, Hong Liu, and Wei Song.
The level of the school was aimed to benefit early career researchers. Postdoctoral researchers and advanced graduate students working in string theory and mathematical physics in India, China, and the UK were also invited to apply. A small number of junior faculty were also admitted.
