About Workshop

The interplay between geometry and physics has been a driving force for new developments in both mathematics and physics for a very long time. In the last two decades, higher category theory has become a fine contributor in this dialogue, providing many invaluable ideas and very useful heuristics.

Organised in partnership with the Clay Mathematics Institute, this workshop aims to present the latest results in the application of (higher) geometry to theoretical physics and to foster new collaborations between mathematicians and theoretical physicists. Focal points of the workshop will be algebraic and symplectic geometry, mirror symmetry, generalised geometry and T-/U-duality, higher gauge theory and its applications, higher and generalised symmetries, and the application of homotopy algebras in the context quantum field theory.

We acknowledge the support of the Clay Mathematics Institute, London Mathematical Society and the Glasgow Mathematical Journal Trust, Edinburgh Mathematical Society.

Participation

Applications to attend this workshop are now closed. Late applications will only be considered in exceptional circumstances. Limited funding is available for UK-based Early Career Researchers and PhD students without alternative financial support towards accommodation and travel costs. Successful applicants, notified by the ICMS, will be required to pay 150 GBP as a registration fee. For locals who are based in Edinburgh, the registration fee will be waived.
