About Workshop

Social justice, equality/equity, diversity, inclusion (JEDI for short) has in recent years gained a significant role in the public conversation and made historical advances for society. Many measures have been introduced to ensure JEDI in a variety of settings and mathematics has not been different.

However, there are two main, pressing aspects that we would like to bring to the table in this collective effort: on the one hand, this healthy, progressive tide is changing due to well-known recent political events. It is now more pressing than ever to defend, and continue, the advances made over recent years in JEDI at the mathematics collective. On the other hand, through our JEDI work experience we have noticed that the views, voices, and approaches from the Global South do not have usually the relevance that should.

During the conference, we plan to focus one day on each aim, with a final collective wrap-up discussion to bring conclusions together.
