About Workshop

The UK Operator Algebra Conference brings together speakers broadly studying operator algebras such as C*-algebras, von Neumann algebras, and non-self-adjoint operator algebras. Such algebras are foundational in the study of quantum mechanics and noncommutative geometry, and have been of intense interest for the past 50 years.

The aims of this workshop are as follows:

  • Provide a forum to showcase the breadth of research in operator algebras and related areas that is currently being undertaken across the UK.
  • Provide an opportunity for early career researchers to present and promote their work, helping them to progress to their next career stage.
  • Explore new directions for research and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive community.
  • Provide ample opportunity for participants to expand their professional network.

Registration fee

The UK Operator Algebra conference series strives to be inclusive. Given the economic instability in the sector, we have taken the decision to provide a range of registration fee options. The base rate will be £170-£200 in order to meet our budget. We are asking speakers and participants with means to support the community through paying a higher registration fee, either £340 or £520. In particular, we ask non-UK based non-plenary speakers to aim to pay at least £340 where possible. We note that accommodation and meals at the SMO are covered for all participants and come to £520/person. The registration form has these options and we ask you to consider whether you can pay a higher registration. We also provide an option to ask for registration to be waived, and such requests will be considered within our overall budget. We note that participation will not be determined by registration fee, rather those paying the higher registration fee will be contributing to travel costs and registration fee waivers for those without other means.
