The annual ICMS-INI Joint Correspondents Network annual meeting took place on Zoom this year and was hosted by ICMS in Edinburgh.
The meeting took place over two days.
With the exciting announcement of significant additional funding for both institutes, the focus of this year’s meeting was on outlining both institutes spending plans, including a science setting introduction for the whole mathematical sciences community from Alison Etheridge, Chair of the EPSRC advisory group on Additional Funding. Paul Glendinning of ICMS and David Abrahams of the INI both outlined their plans for the addtional funding and updated on how both institutes are delivering their events in a virtual world.
The first session ended with a chance to visit a virtual ICMS in GatherTown and meet up with fellow Correspondents. The second session allowed the correspondents to work in small groups to discuss the additional funding plans and gives an opportunity for them to feed back their thoughts and suggestions to both institutes.
