The ICMS and MAC-MIGS Modelling Camp is a multi-day in-person workshop where several challenges are presented by industry partners or academic experts in knowledge exchange. Participants were divided into teams to develop ideas to tackle the challenges, and each team presented their progress at the end of the camp.

Modelling camps aim to:

  1. Train students and early career researchers to engage in study groups and similar activities
  2. Offer essential skills training (e.g. teamwork, coping outside of one’s comfort zone, introduction to modelling methodology, report writing, communication and presentation skills)
  3. Provide an opportunity to learn how different branches of the mathematical sciences can be applied in various industrial settings

Participation in a modelling camp is excellent preparation for attending a study group. The European Study Groups with Industry (ESGI) are held annually all across Europe, with the UK hosting one every year.
