The interplay between the development of numerical algorithms for problems with multiple scales and their implementation in a high performance computing (HPC) environment was the focus of this workshop. Recent developments in numerical algorithms for partial differential equations with multiple spatial or temporal scales were discussed. Additionally, challenges in the implementation of novel algorithms in an HPC environment were addressed.
