About Workshop

Workshop participant feedback

“Excellent selection of plenary speakers, with diversified backgrounds, all inspiring research champions. Another asset of this conference is the participation of young, very engaged researchers, giving highly specialized presentation that complement perfectly the broader, more general plenary talks.”

“The workshop offered excellent academic value. The presentations combined solid theoretical foundations with practical applications, providing a well-rounded view of how climate change affects the insurance market. The diversity of perspectives and the quality of the discussions greatly enriched the learning experience. The topics addressed are of particular importance for Brazil, where climate-related events are becoming increasingly frequent each year, making this dialogue especially timely and impactful for us.”

Following the success of the first Workshop on Climate Change and Insurance held in Vienna, the second edition, CCI 2025, took place in the beautiful city of Edinburgh from September 10 to 12, 2025.

The workshop continued its mission to deepen our understanding of how climate change impacts the insurance industry and to foster collaboration between actuaries and academics on both national and international levels.
Without proper management of its climate risks, the insurance sector is vulnerable, with the potential for underestimated claims to lead to the system collapse. Such a scenario could have catastrophic consequences for businesses and society at large.
