Black Heroes of Mathematics 2025
The annual Black Heroes of Mathematics conference will take place on 1 – 2 October at the London Mathematical Society (and online). This year’s event marks the 100 year anniversary since the first Black person was awarded a PhD in mathematics. Dr Elbert Cox received his PhD in September 1925 from Cornell University.
Speakers at the event include Gloria Antwi-Botchway, Clotilde Djuikem, Teika Haris, Aondoyima Ioratim-Uba, Jordan Marajg, Juliet Ojiako, Mark Richards, Flavia Santos, and more
As part of the conference there will be a Youth Festival, delivered by Big Ideas. This Yout Festical will be a virtual event open to schools across the UK.
